Restorative yoga helps to provide physical and mental balance to prevent stress and anxiety, through the use of props that allow you to hold poses longer, giving you all the benefits of deep, passive stretching.
What to Expect In Our Class:
If you take a restorative class with us, prepare yourself for deep relaxation. Expect our teachers to arrange the necessary props to be available for you. The lights may be dimmed and soft music played.
After you are set up in a pose with all your props, you will hold the pose for an extended period, often up to 10 or 20 minutes. In these passive poses, the focus is on ease and release. You may even fall asleep. This can be a sign that the nervous system is recalibrating to a “rest and digest” state vs. “fight or flight.”
At the end of the session, you will feel open, relaxed and refreshed.
Stillness is a powerful practice. Have patience and enjoy the stillness of your body and mind.
